Fiber Optics General Laborer $20.67 p/h!-Mountain Home, ID
Excellent opportunity to work with the City Maintenance Division
- $20.67 p/h to start
- Monday – Friday, day shift hours
- Full-time
- Temporary Position up to 12 months
Duties:
- Perform fiber optic construction throughout the city to install and maintain the fiber optic infrastructure
- Locating underground utilities, assisting with drilling operations, setting boxes, restoration, meeting with homeowners to plan installation, in-home installation, troubleshooting
- Work on fiber optic construction, involving conduit and boxes
- Prepare the work site to locate utilities and eliminate possible hazards
- Prepares the Bore Rig for correct setup before drilling begins
- Safely and efficiently operate tools and equipment
- Installing fiber optic cable and components
- Meets with property owners to coordinate the installation and maintenance of fiber optic infrastructure
- Operates and maintains a variety of construction equipment and hand tools
- Prepares construction areas, digs trenches, and hauls debris and construction materials
- Ensures that safety practices and procedures are implemented and monitored at all work sites
- Patches asphalt
- Cleans and restores construction areas, job sites, and other project areas
- Cleans and maintains tools and equipment
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Valid Idaho driver’s license
- Able to pass a background check
- Drug-free
- Able to lift and move up to 50 lbs., repetitive bending, kneeling, reaching, and walking long distances
- Able to work in trenches and uneven terrain
- Work safely in heavy traffic
- Operate light and medium-duty equipment
- Able to safely operate hand and power tools
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Knowledge of construction equipment and tools
- Ability to follow safety regulations, protocols, principles, practices, and procedures
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in the construction industry with heavy equipment operation; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work
